Strawberries and these other foods have the most pesticides

So a new report came out regarding the most pesticide contaminated foods you find at grocery stores from the Environmental Working Group which is a non profit research group.

The following were included in the list as the most contaminated with pesticides:

1. Strawberries
2. Spinach
3. Nectarines
4. Apples
5. Peaches
6. Pears
7. Cherries
8. Grapes
9. Celery
10. Tomatoes
11. Sweet bell peppers
12. Potatoes

Of this group these conventionally grown foods strawberries had the most types of pesticide residues on them; around 20 types of pesticides!

The cleanest conventionally grown foods they studied that had the least amount of pesticide residue included:

1. Sweet corn
2. Avocados
3. Pineapples
4. Cabbage
5. Onions
6. Frozen sweet peas
7. Papayas
8. Asparagus
9. Mangoes
10. Eggplant
11. Honeydew melon
12. Kiwi
13. Cantaloupe
14. Cauliflower
15. Grapefruit

The study identified almost 178 different types of pesticide residues on commonly consumed fruits and veggies on this list; the research group suggests washing raw produce as much as possible or better yet buy organic if possible especially when purchasing strawberries.

Eating pesticide-free may mean a diet with fewer strawberries, or at least eating their organic versions.
